Mr. Popo is the right hand man of Kami, Guardian of the Earth, and has also served previous guardians. Good natured and fun loving, Popo's skills as a warrior are not to be underestimated. Mr. Popo tells Goku that he must prove his worth by defeating him to earn the chance to see Kami face to face , in Dragon Ball. The eager young warrior soon learns that there is more to Mr.Popo than meets the eye.

Five years later, Mr. Popo and Kami train Krillen, Tien, Yamcha Chiaotzu and Yajirobe in order to help combat the approaching threat of the Saiyans. Mr. Pop has many appreacenes in DBZ but plays a very small part in Dragon Ball GT.

We have probably all herd of the color change for Mr. Popo in Dragon Ball Z Kai. This happened due to an article that was written stating that he was racist because he was a stereotype of a black person having big lips and no teeth. I personally find this to be ridiculous, 1. because I have been watching this series since before I started school and NEVER once thought of Mr. Popo negatively representing the black community mostly due to (2) the fact that he is an ALIEN! he is not a human character. Clearly the change and accusation upset many long time DBZ fans. The color change for Mr. Popo only happened on the CW4kids version of the episodes. They changed Popo to a Royal Blue. Every other version (nickolodien included) show Mr.Popo in his original coloring.
