 As one of the only three female members of the zodiac, she is able to hug any of the male members and neither of them transform. She lives with her mother and Rin (the horse). Kagura seemingly is the only female member of the zodiac that has not been personally hurt by Akito.  She is just a few years older than Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru, at a spry 19.

The gang meets Mai for the first time because of the duelist tournament being thrown by Pegasus.We assume she is an adult, but her age is never fully disclosed. Mai is extremely lonely and at first, is convinced that she doesn't need friends. At one point, she believed her "Harpie Lady" cards were the closest she would ever have to friends.This changes when she befriends Yugi and his friends. While they don't fully trust her at first they slowly warm up. She plays a supporting role in both the anime and the manga. 
Don't get the wrong idea about Mai. She is very much one of the good guys and isn't as bad as she is painted out to be in the beginning.

 

 Appearance

This blonde woman is quite self-absorbed and confident, this may explain how she carries her self but also her choices in wardrobe. Mai always seems to be in almost all purple. Purple is the color of royalty and Mai things she needs to be treated as such (at least this is the impression from our first meeting). Her outfit does change from Duelist Kingdom and Battle City  and once or twice more. This isn't that strange because characters often are only seen if a few outfits repeatedly.




 Young Love
Many people often believe that her and Mr. Joey Wheeler should have ended up together, I don't believe they did, however, I could be wrong. There have been many a fan fiction written about these too. :)
